Whether she’s launching new classes for SGD, listening and giving advice to one of her design mentees, or strapping on her roller skates, Monique Meyer is eager to take action. And there’s no time like now.
Monique came to design in a roundabout way, first teaching herself on PowerPoint while working as an executive assistant. Life’s twists and turns meant college and her graduate program took longer than expected. She had to take time off, due to money and burnout from working full-time while being a full-time student.
“I understand what it’s like to feel you’re the only person that knows your struggles,” she says. That’s why she built flexibility into the School of Graphic Design.
Today, along with leading and teaching at SGD, Monique runs her own design firm, Studio South + Shore, which is known for designing high-impact marketing collateral for non-profit and educational organizations across the country. When she was starting out, she never would have imagined that she’d be where she is today — or that she’d teach design on Adobe Live or be featured on a panel at the Texas Governor and Texas Film Commission’s Women in Tech Conference.
Monique knows how hard it can be to learn the techniques you need in a timely, cost-effective manner. She started the School of Graphic Design to address the need for affordable, flexible design education for designers (and non-designers) of all levels.
Wherever you are on your design journey, Monique is here to help.
